STUDENT ATHLETE SUPPORT
Our Student Athlete Support staff will supply all the necessary invitations and documentation for those student athletes from outside the European Union who require a visa (visa D) to live and study in Spain. This service is available only after payment and enrollment has been completed. It is the individual student’s responsibility to make the relevant appointments at the Spanish Embassy/Consulate in the country of residence. We also provide a template for a Consent of a Minor Studying in Spain Authorization Letter that must be signed by the parents/guardians of the student and authorized by the Spanish Embassy/Consulate in your country of residence.
Within 30 days of entering Spain (on visa D) each student must obtain a student residence card. Each student must bring with them a photocopy of their mother and father’s passports and 4 color standard passport photographs, plus the authorized Consent Letter. As this process requires the services of a lawyer, supplied by the Academy, the Academy charges €250 for this process.

Students can withdraw cash from their account with the student bank. Each student has an account automatically set up on enrollment. Parents/Guardians can pay funds into the account via cash payment, credit card payment or bank transfer. There is no overdraft facility.
Alternatively, students can open an account with Banco de Sabadell, and make use of their on-site ATM machine, located in the La Masía building. In this case the account is with the bank, and offers the services of any standard bank account, including Internet banking. A recent study of successful sports men and women highlighted the importance of living in close proximity to their training environment. Not all of our student athletes live on our campus, so with these two things in mind, we take great pride in the fact our academy operates its own fleet of minibuses to transport our student athletes to the right place at the right time. Starting with morning collections from Barcelona and the surrounding area, to airport pick up and drop offs, right through to taking our students back to their homes after a hard days training, our drivers transport our student athletes in a safe and efficient manner.
Our campus has a fully equipped shop selling all of your tennis essentials, plus a few extra exclusive products! We stock all of the main brands of racquets and clothing, in particular Head racquets and accessories and TTK clothing. Plus footwear, grips, bags and many other tennis related products.

Our TenisLab staff offers racquet advice and services. If you are looking for a new racquet our experts will suggest a set of demo racquets for you to test (available from the Pro-Shop) based on your current racquet preferences, playing style, standard and history. Once you have selected your new model they will ensure that all of your frames are matched and can offer customization services for the perfect feel. Our staff will be happy to advise on care and maintenance, plus strings, tension and restringing frequency.

The Academia Sánchez-Casal offers a wide range of activities for its student athletes, both during our ‘academy year’ and even more so during our ‘summer tennis’ time. Regular activities include a weekly supermarket visit plus beach and cinema trips. All of these activities are organized and supervised by our Activities Coordinator, with transport provided. During the year we also offer our students the opportunity to participate in a skiing trip, theme park excursions, sightseeing tours and various other activities such as ‘paintballing’.
ATP, WTA and Davis Cup Tournaments: Thanks to its excellent reputation within the Spanish Tennis Community, the Academia Sánchez-Casal is able to offer our students the chance to visit the ATP Barcelona Open Sabadell Atlantico and WTA Barcelona Kia tournaments in the spring of each year. We believe it is a valuable experience for all of our student athletes to have the opportunity to watch world-class competitive tennis at close quarters.
In the past we have also given our students the opportunity to watch Spanish Davis Cup ties, and we are always looking for opportunities to enhance our students learning and experience of the professional game.

The La Masía Restaurant provides an exciting range of Mediterranean cuisine. Everyday our skilled chefs offer an a la carte menu or buffet selection to suit all tastes and appetites. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated upon request. A specialized sports nutritionist works with our chefs to ensure all meals meet the nutritional needs of a High Performance student athlete.
