ANDRES GOMEZ, FORMER ROLAND GARROS WINNER, JOINS NAPLES DURING MARCH

Former professional tennis player Andr�s G�mez, from Ecuador, is working on March at the Academia S�nchez-Casal Naples (Florida) in players� development contributing his experience, knowledge and talent.
G�mez has been the best player in his country�s history: Roland Garros Single�s winner in 1990, Roland Garros and US Open Doubles winner, adding a total of 21 singles titles throughout his professional career, he was finalist in 14 other tournaments and won 34 doubles titles, thus reaching the ATP 4 ranking.
Knowledgeable of the professional circuit and experienced on all types of surfaces, he considers that you need to be prepared for when the opportunity arrives and this requires dedication, effort, delivery and illusion.

On 18th February, Emilio S�nchez Vicario International Forum was officially opened by Emilio Sanchez Vicario, at Ciudad de la Raqueta (Madrid) with a debate entitled: "Future of the Spanish tennis"

Captain of the Davis Cup Spanish Team champion in 2008, CEO S�nchez-Casal Academy (AS-C) and author of "Dream to Win" (Temas de Hoy), Emilio Sanchez Vicario affirms that "Now is the time to invest, to improve infrastructure, increase number of licenses, more tournaments, define an own system of education and training. Although Davis Cup success, the future is in danger if we don�t work properly "

Emilio Sanchez Vicario International Forum, located on two sites (Ciudad de la Raqueta, Madrid) and S�nchez-Casal Academy (Barcelona), serves as a meeting point for discussing Tennis issues in a national and international level.

The first event held in 2009, launching the book "Dream to Win" (Temas de Hoy), where He presented his ideas based in the High Performance, which are applicable in managing teams, and motivation for personal improvement.

SANCHEZ-CASAL ACADEMY: COMPROMISE WITH QUALITY

The S�nchez-Casal Academy, together with the Gastronomy and Restaurant services, is a member of the SICTED (�Sistema Integral the Calidad Tur�stica Espa�ola� � Spanish Integral System of Tourist Quality) after receiving certification, which underwrites the quality both in the facilities as in the services offered in the Club.
The SICTED is promoted by the Tourism Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Spanish Federation of Town Councils and Provinces; its main objective is to guarantee the quality in touristic destinations and the Academy is concerned with the compromise of offering a maximum quality to athletes who choose the spend their holidays at this touristic site in Barcelona.
This certification has special relevance because it was awarded to a High Performance Sports center, such as the S�nchez-Casal Academy, a place of international prestige where tennis players, students and visitors from all over the world are constantly visiting the facilities.
The sports facilities are located in Baix Llobregat, which offers a first level cultural and touristic heritage thanks to the proximity to the Gava, Casteldefells, and Sitges beaches; these are all privileged areas not only by their location but also by the good Mediterranean climate which, together with the sports residence, welcome the athletes during the season they spend at the S�nchez-Casal Academy.

(AS-C)Singapore will be hosting the Youth Olympic games next August, which is the main goal?
Answer: �There are two important things. One is to have a good success and second is create a lasting sports, culture and education legacy for Singapore and enhance and elevate the sporting culture�.
(AS-C) The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) has made great strides in transforming the way Singaporeans view and participate in sports.
Answer.- �Sports has a very critical role to play in how we expand further as a country, from bringing in sports tourism, in terms of trying to bring the people together. The vision is to create a Sporting Singapore where Sports is a way of life. The SSC aims to develop sports champions and create enjoyable sporting experiences�
(AS-C) Please, could you tell us developments ahead for sports?
Answer.- �We�d been doing a lot of high participation, sport for life programmes, building regional stadiums and mass participation facilities. We believe that in any sports venue when you do business you really need to go down deeper into it. Creating a sporting infrastructure and developing a sports industry are at the overall strategy�

ORIOL ROCA AND PATRICIA FARGAS, CHAMPIONS AT ACADEMIA SANCHEZ-CASAL INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Oriol Roca win the title under-16 and Patricia Fargas, from Sanchez-Casal Academy, won female under -16.
Support for the player and thought out activities so the tennis player feels like at home in the tour that requires travel, transfers and lodging in different clubs. With this in mind, we created the Academia S�nchez-Casal International Tournament that, as a novelty offers a zone specifically for Energy Point as well as developing various additional activities to help the player feel comfortable and have accessibility of a High Performance team.
We offered FULL HOSPITALITY (Meals and Accommodation) for the Players in the Main Draw (Singles and Doubles) and for 1 Official Coach per Country. It is the best way to offer High Performance, support and dedication to young tennis players in their tour around Barcelona in the International Tennis Europe Tour.

DAVIS CUP TROPHY IN SANCHEZ-CASAL

In the third week of the month of July, the Academia S�nchez-Casal (Barcelona) has a good number of students who enjoy their summer High Performance training with devotion, dedication and effort. There are values reflected in triumphs, trophies and recognitions at all levels. The 2008 Davis Cup trophy, won by the Spanish team in the final against Argentina in Mar del Plata, is in the Academy from July 20-26 for all who wish to see it close and take photos of it and with it.
The ties were a reflection of teamwork for common shared objectives, for each member of the Spanish expedition. For this occasion they will also have for sale a limited edition shirt replica of Spanish team captain, Emilio S�nchez Vicario; the same one he wore during the final.
This trophy is part of a traveling tour through different Spanish cities of the Exposition �Champions 2008�, organized by the Real Federacion Espa�ola de Tenis (RFET).

THE OTHER GRAND SLAM� THE COLLEGE

The other Grand Slam is the event in College for academic excellence through tennis and the way to feel tennis professional thanks to the studies.
Laura and Daniel Vallverd�, two siblings with double nationality (Spanish and Venezuelan) had the same formation during 5 years at Academia S�nchez-Casal.
In 2003 Laura reached the Orange Bowl final and was an �Honor Roll� student at Schiller International School.
In the past weeks, she was in Texas playing the NCAA Division I Championship tournament. Laura reached the women�s singles final and her brother, Daniel, who is number 1 in Miami, shared training sessions with Andy Murray in Barcelona.
From Barcelona to Miami, with her tennis racquets as travel companions, as well some important advice, a clear head, good heart, strong legs and with the dream of today�s� and that of the future.
�Playing the other Grand Slam is feeling the same thing as the professional circuit tennis players; it is being a tennis player, training hard, consciously preparing like a David Cup where you defend your University, you are part of a team and it is not adding individualities but giving the best result of each one of us,� adds Laura.
John McEnroe and the Bryan brothers in Stanford University, Arthur Ashe in UCLA, James Blake in Harvard, John Isner in University of Georgia and Benjamin Becker at Baylor University are examples of players who excelled in the university championship tournaments and this stimulated their entrance in the ATP tour.

SVETA KUZNETSOVA, 10 YEARS AT SANCHEZ-CASAL ACADEMY IN BARCELONA

The Russian tennis player Svetlana Kuznetsova, spent a decade in Spain and formed in Barcelona, in the Sanchez-Casal Academy (AS-C), under the direction of Emilio Sanchez Vicario and Sergio Casal.
She came when she was 14 years and she decided to return to Russia last year.
She wanted to be professional tennis player. She borned in a sportlife family, her mother, Galina Tsareva, achieved six world titles (sprint) in track cycling and her brother Nikolai gained the Olympic silver in Atlanta ' 96 and her father, Alexandr, is a well known trainer.
When she came to Barcelona, the first aim was that she was to taste, she was improving her confidence without requirements in the short term and after two years of permanency in the Academy, she managed at 16 years old to be number 1 Junior of the world.
At the age of 17 she started travelling with a team of coaches from the Academy together with Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, with which she won tilts of doubles and from the one that learned discipline, strategy and as being a professional tennis player.
Her second great partner of doubles was Martina Navratilova with which she played during 2003 in that won four titles. From there until know with Stefan Ortega, Sanchez-Casal Coach, won in 2004 the US OPEN, 9 tilts individual WTA, 13 tilts of doubles, 3 Fed Cup with the national team of Russia and one ITF.

SECOND SCHILLER INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL �SPIRIT DAY�

Students join the second Schiller Internacional School �Spirit Day�, organized by the Student Council and directed by Ms. Emily O�Keeffe and coordinated by Alex Costa. Eight teams battled it out in tennis, football, volleyball and dodgeball. Mr.Sergi Bonillo and his restaurant staff provided a wonderful barbeque picnic so everyone could recharge their batteries for an afternoon filled with more competition. Despite the competitive nature of the participants, including the teaching and Sanchez-Casal coaching staff, all would agree that this was a day for us to celebrate our community spirit.

Number 1 ATP, Rafael Nadal, and the winners of the Davis Cup 2008, David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez, were with the students of the Sanchez-Casal Academy during the visit to Sabadell Barcelona Open.
A picture that remembers the Spanish triumph in the last edition of the Davis Cup, with Emilio Sanchez Vicario as a captain.
More than 120 students, coming from different countries, had the chance to be near their idols sharing the second day of the main draw next to their coaches of Sanchez-Casal.

The Russian tennis player Maria Kirilenko, who played the final in Barcelona Ladies Open 2009, is training these days in the clay courts of the Sanchez-Casal Academy preparing next WTA tournaments in Fez, Estoril and Madrid.
After the morning session she affirms that: �if you want to improve, it is necessary to work hard and have a positive attitude every day. I feel comfortable on clay court and I played really well last week�.
�There are many aspects that can influence in a tennis match and the key is to keep your mind clear, no doubt, have patience and avoid unforced errors. It is not only a matter of hitting the ball hard, the fact is how to play the point�, adds Kirilenko.

Thomas Belluci and Marcelo Melo prepare the tournament playing on the clay courts of Sanchez-Casal Academy.
Belluci, 64 ATP single ranking, has achieved his best ranking this season and is a Davis Cup player.
Melo, 22 ATP doubles ranking with Andr� S�, is also a Davis Cup player who won three ATP titles last season.
Belluci says �I am delighted. This is the first time I'm in Barcelona and I love the city. There are many young people that train hard in the Academy, with intensity. I look around and I find a perfect environment�.
Melo says: �It is the second time I come to Barcelona and it is a city where people enjoy sport. I'm happy. We feel comfortable at the Academy. The facilities are superb�

WHEN SPORTS MEET BUSINESS: A MERGER OF PASSIONS

Under the interesting title "When Sports Meet Business: A merger of passions" the prestigious business School IESE in Barcelona has celebrated a Special Weekend with a conference about what the managers can learn from sports and what sports can learn from professional management.
Emilio Sanchez Vicario has presented his experiences as a professional tennis player winner of five titles of doubles Grand Slam, silver medal at the 1988 Olympic Games and as a former Top Ten world ranking professional ATP and as current General Manager of the Academy Sanchez-Casal (AS-C), in his tenth anniversary developing young people using education and tennis as a vehicle.
The former Spain Davis Cup Captain winner 2008, emphasized the importance of enthusiasm, competitiveness, honesty, respect, industriousness, loyalty, ambition and the attitude as those values that accompany on the development of a person in sports and in life. Organized last weekend in the INEFC's sports facilities to integrate the world of the sport and the business has congregated to 800 students of MBA of 6 Business schools around Europe (IESE, INSEAD, EADA, IE, ESADE, Bocconi) that have had the opportunity to enjoy 19 sports and the mentioned conference in which also take part Gabriel Masfurroll, Chairman & CEO of USP Hospitals in Spain.

EMILIO SANCHEZ VICARIO FEATURED ON THE TENNIS CHANNEL

Emilio Sanchez Vicario, captain of the 2008 Spanish Davis Cup Champion Team, appeared on the Tennis Channel last sunday where he explained the Sanchez-Casal training system.

The series, titled �On the court with the USPTA� consists of four chapters explaining the Sanchez-Casal training system, designed for all levels of tennis to help improve movement in the three zones of the court.

The first chapter focuses on the biography of Emilio Sanchez Vicario and explains in detail the basic exercises for the defensive, offensive and definition zones. For many years, these exercises have played a prominent role in the development of Andy Murray and Svetlana Kuznetsova during their time training at the Sanchez-Casal Academia Barcelona. These same exercises are also used at the Sanchez-Casal Academy in Naples, Florida.

The remaining chapters explain other exercises called �Hand drills� and other specific exercises to improve serve and return. Also there are several tips designed to produce the most productive training under the best conditions.

As previously agreed, the young Austrian player has prepared the Australian Open with the Spanish coach of Academia S�nchez-Casal (AS-C), Angel Gim�nez, who has trained players like Daniela Hantuchova, Gabriela Sabatini and Mari Pierce, amongst others.

�She has a good future, great potential and we have focused this past month in gaining rhythm during court trainings, physical aspects, supports and mobility. Barcelona has good weather year round, we can work well and we have begun with great illusion,� reassures Angel.

This young promise, who started playing tennis at the age of 4 with her mother Francoise by her side, wants to rise amongst the best; especially following the last season, where she confirmed she shows potential, after her triumph against number one player Ana Ivanovic in Montreal.

In 2008 she made it to the finals in Bali, losing against Paty Schnyder and she already has a WTA Title in 2006, in Portoroz, thus making her the seventh youngest player in winning a WTA Tour tournament.

2007 was a key year for her projection; she was ranked amongst the first 100 players and had two good Grand Slam performances, such as the Australian Open and Roland Garros, and she also represented her country in the Fed Cup, with the Austrian National women�s team.

At the AS-C in Barcelona, where players including Andy Murray from Scotland, Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia, Daniela Hantuchova from Slovenia and Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia have trained, she has a complete personalized physical conditioning program, as well as a Video Analysis room where she can watch matches and analyze other technical aspects.

Emilio Sanchez Vicario, captain of the Spanish Team, champions of the Davis Cup 2008, has returned of U.S.A. where he has participated in conferences and days of work with 150 American Professional Trainers, as well as of Australia, Singapore and countries of Latin America, inside of VII ASC/RPT Couch Course distributed by the Academy Sanchez-Casal (AS-C) and the Professional Registry of Tennis (RPT) with the endorsement of United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), that incorporate it within its program � Competitive Player Development�.

The system that it has been developing for ten years in the Academy Sanchez-Casal along with his doubles companion Sergio Casal, as well as its experiences in the high competition as much of player as of trainer, and by those aspects which they help to the improvement in the evolution of the tennis player, has had a great welcome in the U.S.A.

System that includes: understands technical aspects, tactical, physical, psychological, medical, technological and of planning of sessions of training, since the high performance supposes to look for the effectiveness in the above mentioned aspects, in addition to insight educative values as much and formation that influence in the development of the player, as tennis player like person.

During the Course, celebrated 4th and 5th of December at the Naples, Florida location of the Academy Sanchez-Casal ; theoretical and practice sessions were made by: Emilio Sanchez Vicario (President of The Academy Sanchez-Casal) and by Luis Mediero(President of the Professional Registry of Tennis), accompanied by professionals of the ASC, between which they were Arantxa Gallastegui (General Manager ASC Naples) , Mariano Albert ( Responsible of Tennis Area), Andy Burgess ( Responsible Development of the player), Paco Munoz (Responsible of the Physical Area) and Mikel Smith ( Responsible of The Schiller International School).

Within these days of formation they celebrated a round table under the title � Spanish and American System� with the participation of Emilio SanchezVicario, Luis Mediero, Tim Heckler(Chief of main Directorate of the USPTA) and Dave Porter ( Director of the Committee of Education of the USPTA).

Before the Course, Emilio Sanchez Vicario and Luis Mediero visited the central headquarter of the USPTA in Houston, where they met with different departments from this American Organization, directed by Tim Heckler to enhance their relationship.
