Play-Based Learning, the funniest way to learn!

Each year, our elementary teachers take different professional development courses that keep them up to date with the philosophies and techniques of the IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). IB training encourages critical thinking, self-reflection and continuous improvement as a teacher. It gives them access to innovative and diverse education frameworks, planning documents, teaching resources and evaluation tools that improve student learning.

Developing an Eye for Detail

Honorable Mention Romina Fuentes Fonseca

Being a creative, critical thinker is one of our Core Values at ESIS, and developing this side of ourselves is integral in every classroom. These skills are important for problem solving as well as reading and writing, and attention to detail is paramount in being successful in any undertaking. This semester in Middle School, Mr. Gaudin was inspired to share his love for photography and the joy that being creative with a camera can bring.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN IB PYP WORLD SCHOOL?

ESIS colaborative planning

This past July, our Elementary School received confirmation of acceptance as an IB PYP World School. We are very proud of the accomplishments mentioned on our report. In many areas we were delighted to read that we exceeded IB’s expectations and were commended for our dedication to the program. The following are key statements taken directly from our commendation list.

ESIS Students Excel on AP Exams

Santiago Diaz and Jordan Hunte, rising seniors at ESIS, study in preparation for a test. They were among 66% of the students at ESIS who took Advanced Placement exams this year.

Scholar-athletes at ES International School-Naples taking Advanced Placement exams this year performed at very high levels, in several classes beating their peers across the world.

Our IB PYP Journey has Just Begun…

BI ESIS_1-1

ASC has always been synonymous on a world scale with excellence in athletic training. Together with ES International School, student-athletes can pursue high-performance sports training without compromising their academics. In 2017, the ESIS/ASC Board of Directors considered the question: how can we ensure we’re also providing the best quality education available for our youngest students? This was the beginning of our journey to becoming an IB World School for the Primary Years Program (PYP).

AND YET, WE CELEBRATED

And yet we celebrated! We celebrated the end of the school year, the laughs, the hard work, the study, the accomplishments and the moments of joy. We set up a special event for a special day. We decorated the room with bright balloons and night lights, we helped the graduates with their speeches, we dressed them up with their caps and gowns.

Letter to our Class of 2020, by Jennifer Ferrara

Jennifer Ferrrara Graduation speech

You are the class of 2020 and we are now all separated and isolated and in countries far flung and near. We are living a moment in history that your children and grandchildren will read about in text books. You are on the cusp of adulthood in a time that now more than ever needs leaders, creative thinkers, scientists, artists, activists, etc. You are the people who need to face what will be left as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic – the economic and political ramifications that will be with us for a very long time.

ASC & ESIS ALUMNI COMPLETES EXTREME CHALLENGE

PARLEY_OCEANTOOCEAN_020120_329_x

Sam Bencheghib is an ESIS / ASC Class of 2015 Alumni but he is also an environmental activist who just completed an ocean to ocean, six month, 3,000+ miles run across the United States, from NYC to LA, in order to raise awareness about plastic pollution in the oceans.

Sam wrote to us at ASC and ESIS this week with an update on his journey. I recommend you take a moment and live the experience that Sam has dedicated himself to over the past six months. They are worth the minutes of your time!

AFTER 20 YEARS, WE ASK OURSELVES WHO WE REALLY ARE

foto grupo bola buena

Normally it is very difficult to talk about yourself, but tennis gives players the habit of having to review ourselves, to find out what are our areas of improvement, and makes us create new habits to reach our goals. I love this process and I try to do it personally every now and then. I’m a coach, and therefore I need to be coached and coach others.

After 20 years of making opportunities in tennis and education and being a world renowned academy in Europe, I tried to apply the same process to our Tennis Academy and School, ASC and ESIS.
